The Beer Jacket

These canvas jackets started in 1912 at Princeton University, and they are a bit what they sound like. They began as graduating classes wore traditional workwear, also known as a chore coat, to graduation celebrations. After WW I, classmates would stencil on designs representing their class year.

Over the years, these have evolved into traditional wear for Princeton’s graduating classes - now referred to as “senior jackets” - and made of ivory, grey, or black canvas with interior pockets that fit their namesake.
